Ismael Miranda – Son 45

By: Diego Aranda

Tracks like “Abran Paso,” “Borinquen Tiene Montuno,” “Señor Sereno,” and “Pa’ Bravo Yo” continue to echo through our ears, dance floors, private collections, and, of course, across the airwaves of Latina Stereo—the sound of the palm trees. The veteran Puerto Rican salsero, known as El Niño Bonito de la Salsa, with his unmistakable style and powerful voice, shows no signs of slowing down. He’s celebrating 45 years in the world of salsa with a fiery new album full of heartfelt rhythms made for dancers, aptly titled Son 45.

The LP was produced by none other than the immensely talented Víctor Manuelle, and according to Miranda himself, it was made “with great care and social responsibility, so that all kinds of audiences could enjoy it.” The album includes compositions by Víctor Manuelle, Juan José Hernández, Johnny Ortiz, and others, crafted to appeal both to new generations of salseros and to those who have followed Miranda’s journey since his debut back in 1967. It fuses the raw power of classic salsa with modern arrangements, resulting in a delicious production that keeps salseros dancing. The album surprises with its variety of upbeat and infectious rhythms and its socially relevant themes, offering hope in the face of today’s struggles. As for Miranda’s voice, time seems only to have seasoned it: experience has refined his tone, and his vocal register has even climbed a notch.

The album also features collaborations with renowned Caribbean music legends such as Bobby Valentín, Richie Ray, and Roberto Roena on the track “Bajo Piano y Bongó.”

Following its release, Son 45 reached the top three in Billboard’s Tropical Albums chart. For Víctor Manuelle, this achievement reflects the loyal support of Miranda’s fans and the well-deserved recognition of a high-quality production from an artist who remains a pillar of the industry after so many years.

“I’m happy with the work we accomplished and grateful to God, because after 45 years I’ve been able to produce something excellent. Having Víctor Manuelle as a producer is a blessing. I thank God and the wonderful team behind this project,” said Ismael Miranda in a press statement.

The album is available for purchase and download on iTunes and Amazon. Here at Latina Stereo, we invite our audience to enjoy this outstanding release—undoubtedly one of the year’s best.
